Achieve best-in-class electrical safety with Himel Miniature Circuit Breaker

Modern life irony—electricity is the most dangerous form of energy and incidentally the most useful one too. We cannot imagine our lives without electricity though if not safely managed, it is lethal. Accidents arising out of short circuit, overload or the flow of overcurrent are catastrophic and waiting for one is never wise. To pre-empt that, we use an electromagnetic switchgear called Miniature Circuit Breaker in the low voltage electrical circuits. MCBs detect an overcurrent or short circuit in the electrical system thereby shutting it off, which not only saves human lives but the electrical appliances as well. Moreover, the electrical supply can be restored by a mere push of the MCB to the ON position.

A miniature circuit breaker activates under faulty condition when an excessive current is detected in the electrical circuit. The breaking of the contacts is achieved by the trip coil of the MCB. Talking about the trip mechanism, an MCB protects against two faults, overload, and short circuit. To nullify the overload faults, thermal tripping mechanism is activated whereas for short circuit protection magnetic tripping activates.

The working principle of the MCB coordinates between the electromagnetic and the thermal effect. Bimetallic strips are used which is connected to a plunger. In case of overload, the bimetallic strips get heated and is deflected causing the MCB to trip. When short circuit occurs, there is heavy rush of current in the circuit which is sensed by the solenoids in the MCB. The change in the flux activates the trip coil and the plunger disconnects the circuit.

Himel Range of MCBs

Himel MCBs are available in a wide range of specifications suitable for diverse residential and commercial applications. The platform upgrade has scaled up the breaking capacity of the MCBs. The increased range of operating temperatures from -20 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees Celsius adds to the durability of the product. Let us understand better the seven different modules of MCB from Himel, which provides best-in-class protection from short circuit and overload in an electric circuit

HDB3w

The HDB3w segment of MCBs from Himel comes with an input current rating up to 63 Amp AC and the breaking capacity is up to 06kA. This affordable electrical switchgear comes in a smart design with independent accessory installations. A wider range of temperature operatives adds to the durability of HDB3w.

HDB3w-125

HDB3w-125 is the higher version of MCBs from Himel. The input current ratings are higher starting from 63Amp AC up to 125Amp AC and the breaking capacity notches up to 10kA. Available in all four pole descriptions, the tripping curve includes B, C and D codes. These MCBs are in strict compliance to RoHS, thereby being environment friendly.

HDB3wH

The new generation MCBs of the COR platform comes with an indicator. These 18mm width power distribution products come with an input current rating up till 63Amp AC. HDB3wH MCBs have seen an increase in the D curve of tripping and offer better performance with competitive cost.

HDB9Z

Himel has a varied range of MCBs and thus HDB9Z are high performance DC-type electrical safety switchgear which finds application in all DC circuits such as the high-power solar circuits. Besides being a high performance and extremely durable product, they also comply with the highest three- energy limiting capacity requirements in the EN 60898 standards.

HDBK

HDBK are unique plug-in type MCBs with an input alternating current rating up to 63Amp. They are available in C type curve variant and can be used with NEMA load centre.

HDB3wZ

These are the more economic 18mm width DC miniature circuit breakers. With an input current rating till 63Amp, these switchgears possess high durability and are extremely low maintenance. We are gearing up to introduce HDB3wZ with indicators that would facilitate wider applications.

HDB9

The HDB9 are the most advanced, high technology miniature circuit breakers from Himel. With effective operations over wide range of temperature, ranging from -30 degree C to +70 degree C, they offer around 10000 cycles of electrical durability. HDB9 MCBs have the best performance in the S2 market.

Features of Himel MCB

The latest COR platform and the technology upgrades have made Himel MCBs a more reliable and sensitive electrical switchgear than any other product available in the same segment. The manufacturing facility at Himel is capable of manufacturing 2 million poles each day which are rigorously tested in accredited facility. Himel has all the major international certifications which exemplifies our quality commitment.

CB CE Certifications

A certification body or CB is a globally accepted certifier with a market coverage in over 50 countries to approve the certificates and product safety test reports for electrical equipment and devices. These certificates are provided post-test that aggregate international standards. Whereas we are also CE (Conformite Europeenne) certified that confirms that the goods comply to the European health, safety, and environmental protection standards.

KEMA Certifications

Keuring Van Elektrotechnische Materialen or KEMA is a power test certification authority for electricity globally. These provide quality label associated with the certificate for the electrical goods.

RoHS

Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive ensures to reduce the ill effects on the environment by restricting the use of hazardous substances. Himel products strictly complies to RoHS directives and use of Pb, Cd, Hg, Cr6+, PBDE and PBB are prohibited.
